Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is a feminist media critic also a speaker who is Canadian. Feminist Frequency is a site that hosts videos and commentaries on the representation of gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has been awarded prizes for her work, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency - a not-for profit educational site that explores the representation of women in pop culture narratives - is created and directed by Sarkeesian. As well as working to bring awareness to the harassment and targeted assaults on women and other minorities in online spaces she is determined to break down the stigmas and stereotypes prevalent in pop culture. Sarkeesian is a graduate in social thought and politics at York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public speaking. Sarkeesian delivered speeches to the TEDxWomen XOXO Festival and United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was launched in the year 2009 by Sarkeesian. an undergraduate student at York University who had been interested in issues that concern gender and feminism for quite a considerable period of time. The site was created by a woman in her early 20s who wanted to create an online series to examine the gender representations in games. In the end, she ended up being the victim of online harassment.
